Bikini Care Guide

How to Care for Your Swimsuit
A few simple habits will keep your suit looking and feeling premium for years. Your Carvico VITA fabric is engineered to resist chlorine, pilling, and wear — but it still needs a little care to perform its best.
Good care = better fit, longer life, and way more value from your investment.
After Every Wear: Quick Rinse
Rinse your suit in cool, fresh water as soon as you can (ideally within a few hours).
Why it matters:
- Saltwater weakens fibers over time
- Chlorine is harsh on fabric
- Sunscreen and oils build up and affect elasticity
- Sand acts like sandpaper on fabric
You don't need a full wash every time — just rinse out the salt, chlorine, and residue. And don't leave it damp in your bag for days.
Hand Washing (Every Few Wears)
- Fill a basin with cool or lukewarm water
- Add a small amount of gentle, pH-neutral detergent (skip bleach and fabric softener)
- Gently swirl and let soak for 15-20 minutes
- Rinse thoroughly in cool water
- Gently press out excess water (don't wring or twist)
Why hand wash? Washing machines are rough on high-performance fabric. The agitation and heat stress the fibers and break down elasticity. Hand washing takes 5 minutes and keeps your suit performing like new.
Drying & Storage
Drying:
- Lay flat on a towel in the shade
- Never wring or twist — gently press to remove water
- Avoid direct sunlight (UV breaks down fabric)
- Never use the dryer — heat destroys elasticity
- Don't hang by the straps when wet (causes stretching)
Storage:
- Store completely dry in a cool, dry place
- Lay flat or fold gently
- Keep away from rough surfaces, zippers, and velcro
Things to Avoid
- Heat: No dryers, no hot water
- Bleach or harsh detergents: They break down fibers
- Hot tubs: High heat + heavy chlorine is tough on fabric (rinse immediately if you do)
- Rough surfaces: Use a towel on concrete, wood, or rough pool edges
- Leaving it damp: Air it out or hang it up when you get home
- Heavy oils: Your suit is oil-resistant, but buildup still happens — rinse well
Quick Tips
Travel: Pack a wet/dry bag for your suit. Rinse it in your hotel shower after swimming, then store it separately so it doesn't soak your luggage.
Sustainability: The most sustainable suit is one you keep wearing. Proper care means fewer replacements, less waste, and more value from the regenerated ocean materials (ECONYL®) that went into making it.
The Bottom Line
Rinse after every wear. Hand wash when needed. Dry flat in the shade. Avoid heat and rough surfaces.
Your suit is engineered to last — these simple steps help it live up to that promise.
